Description: Because my unique teaching environment is an off-site school, I have struggled to stay abreast with the latest educational practices and trends. I do not have access to educational journals, magazines or other publications school districts subscribe to. As I have become aware of some educational publications, I have begun to subscribe to email notifications, to try to stay abreast of current educational practices and trends.
Analysis: I receive regular email updates from NAREN - Wisconsin (National At Risk Education Network) and Edutopia. I find the weekly updates from these organizations to be most applicable and beneficial to my teaching environment. NAREN specifically addresses the learning challenges and joys of working with at risk students. I updates are free and allow me the flexibilty to read through the information at my leisure.
Reflection: As I continue to grow in my knowledge of the many resources available for educators to access via the internet, I will add to my "toolbox" of go-to professional materials.
